Non-Iteration Methods of Turbulent Flux Parameterization

  • Based on the universal functions of Högström (1996) and Beljaars et al.(1991), and inspired by Louis et al.(1982) and Launiainen (1995), a new non-iteration turbulent flux parameterization scheme is derived by using the multiple regression analysis. In the new scheme, Obukhov stability parameter is directly parameterized through bulk Richardson number, aerodynamic roughness length and heat roughness length, and thus the flux can be derived by using the universal functions of Högström (1996) and Beljaars et al.(1991). On one hand, there is no iteration in the new scheme, so its calculation needs less CPU time. On the other hand, compared with Launiainen (1995) scheme, the fluxes generated from the new scheme are closer to those from Högström (1996) and Beljaars et al.(1991), which both use iteration method.
