2022年欧洲夏季热浪高温过程特征及极端性分析

The Process-observational and extremal characteristics Analysis of the European Record-Breaking Heatwave in 2022 Summer

  • 摘要: 2022年夏季(6-7月)欧洲出现明显偏离气候均值的罕见高温,对其研究有助于我国全球极端区域性高温天气预报预测能力提升。本文使用欧洲中西部多源实况资料对此次欧洲大范围持续性高温过程进行实况过程特征及极端性分析。结果表明:1)本轮欧洲高温热浪事件(连续3日日最高气温≥32℃)影响范围覆盖欧洲中西部,影响时间持续约59天,法国、西班牙、葡萄牙等国40℃以上的高温日数达7~15天,过程日最高气温47℃(观测地葡萄牙,站点皮尼昂Pinh?o,非国际交换站),英国首次观测到40℃以上日最高气温;高温由4个连续子过程构成,第4个子过程(7月17日-29日)高温强度达到最强。2)相比本世纪以来2003年(影响西欧、中欧、南欧,过程持续31天,最高气温45.2℃)、2013年(影响西欧北部,过程持续19天,最高气温38.1℃)、2019年(影响西欧、中欧,过程持续8天,最高气温42.6℃)的三次典型高温过程,本次过程高温强度、持续时间、影响范围均达到历史最强,共有616个(6月292站,7月324站)GTS、GSOD站日最高气温突破其同期历史极值;3)ECA&D站点高温极值最强,GTS站点监测时效性最好,GSOD站点反映超历史同期极值准确度最高,ERA5高温极值偏弱。

     

    Abstract: Europe had experienced anomalously heatwave that significantly deviated from climatic norms in 2022 summer (June and July). Researches on this extreme event can enhance China"s global forecasting capabilities in regional extreme high-temperature weather.By Using multi-source observations in Central and Western Europe, this arctile analyzes the traits of the process-observations and extremal characteritics of such widespread and persistent heat wave. The results show as follows: 1) This heatwave event (defined as daily maximum temperature≥32℃ for 3 consecutive days) affected central and western Europe, and lasted for approximately?59 days. The number of days, with daily highest temperature exceeding 40℃, in France, Spain, Portugal and other countries reached 7-15. The highest recorded daily temperature during the whole heatwave was 47℃ in Pinh?o(in Portugal, not a Global Transition Station),,while the United Kingdom observed a daily maximum temperature above 40℃ for the first time in its history. The whole heat wave was composed of four consecutive sub-processes, and the intensity of the high temperature in the fourth sub-process (July 17th - 29th) scaled the peak.2) Compared to the three typical heatwave events since the 21st century, those occurred in the year of 2003 (affecting Western Central and Southern Europe, lasting 31 days ,with a peak daily temperature of 45.2℃), 2013 (affecting northern Western Europe, lasting 19 days,with a peak daily temperature of 38.1℃), and 2019 (affecting Western and Central Europe, lasting 8 days,with a peak daily temperature of 42.6℃), the heatwave in 2022 had exhibited the highest intensity, longest duration, and broadest spatial impact in recorded history.3)The ECA&D stations gave the highest daily temperature observations, the GTS stations showed the best(shortest) monitoring timeliness, the GSOD stations yielded the highest accuracy in reflecting extreme historical records, while the ERA5’s extreme high temperature values are relatively weak.
