Abstract
Do higher horizontal resolution models performs better? Answer is yes. Horizontal and vertical resolution of climate models used in climate variability and climate change studies has been increased in association with the improvement of computer capability. The horizontal and vertical resolution of the atmospheric and oceanic component of Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Models (AOGCMs) participated in the sixth phase of Couple Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6; Eyring et al., 2016) is generally higher than CMIP5 (Taylor et al., 2012). See Figure 1.19 in Chen et al. (2021). CMIP6 models perform better than CMIP5 models in simulating global distribution of annual
